Once you’ve
populated your website with decent content and call to actions
(CTAs) you’ve hopefully started seeing some traffic to the site
and getting some conversions. Traffic and conversions usually
equals profit, so you are now well on your way to becoming a
successful affiliate. So what’s
The most logical, and recommended, step now is to get more
traffic. More traffic should mean more conversions and therefore
more profit. There are a number of ways to increase traffic to a
website, but we’re going to focus here the easiest and most
reliable method. And that is more content.
Visitors will typically be reaching your site via one of a three
routes : - search engines, referrals or direct traffic. Let’s
take a look at each of these routes in a bit more de
Traffic via a search engine is great news. This means the search
engines have put forward your website in a list of results to a
user searching for something specific. The content you have
provided has suggested to the search engines that the user will be
find what they are looking for by visiting your site.
Direct traffic is also encouraging. Somebody has typed your web
site address directly into their internet browser in order to visit
your site. This is likely as the result of one of two things –
either someone has visited your site before, liked your content and
is now coming back for another look or someone has shared your site
with a friend and recommended they have a look at it. Either way,
you are doing something right.
A referral means someone has clicked on a link on another
website that has directed them to your site. This means that
somebody has considered your site worth linking to and is also good
news.
All three reasons above have one thing in common – your
content. For a search engine to recommend your site to a user, it
means your content contains something useful and relevant to that
search. For someone to revisit your site, or tell a friend about
it, means that the content you’re providing is interesting enough
to come back to and/or to share. If someone else is linking to your
site from theirs, then you can assume they found your content so
good they wanted others to find it too.
Quite simply, the content you are providing to your readers is
now driving traffic to your site. You are doing something right so
to get more traffic, write more content. The more content you have
– providing you keep it relevant, useful and interesting – the
more visitors you are going to get. Your site will appear in the
results for more search queries, which will mean more visitors from
the search engines. The better the content, the more people are
likely to come back and also to tell their friends – which means
more direct traffic. The more useful information you provide, the
more other people are likely to want to link to your site –
meaning more referral traffic.
As you add more and more content to your site, you are also
giving yourself extra opportunities to convert your traffic with
CTAs. As we’ve already said – more conversions means more
money. If you’ve focussed on a very specific niche up until this
point, now is the time to broaden your content and write about
different, but still related, subjects.
Content really is king. By keeping the quality high, keeping it
relevant to your audience and making sure it’s useful and
engaging information you are sure to drive more and more traffic to
your website and generate higher and higher revenue. And that is
the ultimate aim in affiliate marketing.
